The machine, photographed on a dark ground

The object itself

Small, silent, and engraved with your number.

It is about the size of a hardback book and it makes no sound. It sits on a shelf in a study or a hall and asks nothing of the room — no rack, no fan noise, no blinking. Founding members’ machines carry their number, engraved, on the base.

You will never open it, never update it, and never be asked what is inside it. That is the point. But you are entitled to know that it is built on hardware the industry takes seriously, so:

Powered by NVIDIA Jetson Orin

The larger Studio machine is built on NVIDIA DGX Spark. Both are chosen so that the assistant can think inside your own walls rather than borrowing someone else’s computer to do it. That is the only reason the hardware matters, and it is the last we will say about it.

What it is like to live with
  • Size About that of a hardback book. It fits on a shelf beside them.
  • Sound None you will hear from across a room.
  • Power Less than a table lamp. Leave it on; that is what it is for.
  • Warmth Faintly warm to the touch, like a phone that has been charging.
  • Room for your history A lifetime of letters, records and photographs, with room to spare.
  • Without the internet It keeps working. Ask it something with the router unplugged and it answers.
  • Where it goes A shelf, a study, a hall table. No rack, no cupboard, no cables to hide.
  • Your number Engraved on the base. Founding members only, one to sixteen.
  • If it breaks We fix or replace it. You will not be asked to diagnose anything.
  • After a year It is yours to keep, and it goes on working whether or not we do.

If you want the part numbers, write to us and we will send them. We do not print them here, because for all but a handful of readers they are noise.

Local by default. External only when you choose.

Your questions, files, and history live in the box on your shelf. The everyday work happens on that box. When you choose an outside AI service, the question and any files attached to that job leave the box and are handled by that company, under your account. No ads. No selling your information.

You hold the valve: every outbound call is blocked until you approve it — once, for a while, or always. Outside models are brought in per request, with your approval — never by default.

How we keep it that way →

Or somewhere else entirely

It does not have to live in your house.

The same assistant runs on a machine that is yours alone in a locked cabinet, if a shelf at home is not what you want. The trade is stated honestly on both cards.

In your house

The appliance

A small, silent machine on a shelf in your home, engraved with your founding number. Your records never leave the building — not as a policy we promise to keep, but because there is nowhere else for them to go. It works with the internet unplugged.

  • Stay a year and the machine — and everything it has learned — is yours to keep
  • Physically cannot leave the house
  • Arrives within 72 hours of confirmation, configured, named and loaded
  • If it breaks, we fix or replace it — our job, not yours

It ends in ownership.

Arrives within 72 hours of confirmation. Stay a year and the machine — and everything it has learned — is yours to keep.

Or in our cabinet

The cabinet

One machine, yours alone, in a locked cabinet in a guarded building — not a share of someone else’s computer and not a seat in a service. Named and keyed to you, set up by the same hands and loaded with the same history. Choose it if there is no shelf at home you want it on.

  • Starts sooner — nothing to build, ship or wait for
  • One machine, yours alone, in a locked cabinet
  • Wiped to written confirmation the day you leave
  • Nothing vests: there is no machine of yours to become yours

Nothing vests.

There is no machine of yours to become yours, and it needs an internet connection that the appliance does not. Both of those are the honest cost of not waiting.

Either address

$8,995 / year

The founding year, everything included. Renews at the founding rate for as long as your membership is continuous, and the price is fixed until September 2027.

A written application, reviewed. If it is not right for you we will say so in writing, before you commit to a year. It begins with the Archive Assessment — delivered work you keep, credited in full against your year.

The founding cohort

Sixteen memberships, numbered one to sixteen.

16 numbers remaining

12 for a house · 4 for a studio

Twelve for a house, four for a studio. Your number is engraved on the machine, and the rate you join at stays yours for as long as your membership is continuous. When the sixteen are filled the cohort closes and the price becomes the list price — not for a weekend, permanently.

There is no countdown here and there will never be a sale. The only thing that runs out is the sixteen.

One decision, and then it is handled

One price, and one small step first.

The same assistant at either address, for the same fee. It begins with a piece of real work rather than with a year — the Archive Assessment, which you keep and which is credited in full against your membership.

The founding year

$8,995 / year

Everything included, at either address. Fixed until September 2027.

The Assessment is delivered work you keep, and is credited in full against your founding year. Your year is confirmed with you in writing and is final. Under your own roof, ownership vests at twelve months.
